This is an ON LEASH Meetup. Please try to wear something RED.
We are invited by the dog playgroup at Canine to Five to join them on a walk at Detroit's new Riverwalk.

Canine To Five is pleased to be partnering with the Detroit River Front Conservancy to bring you the Riverfront Canine Club!!

If you haven't experienced Detroit's beautiful new (and dog friendly!) Riverfront yet, this is your change to walk the water's edge with your dog.

We will meet at Rivard Plaza (free parking!) and depart for our group walk at 10:15 a.m. We will walk east past the RenCen, Hart Plaza and Cobo along the Riverfront to Joe Louis Arena (0.5 mile) and back (total 1 mile walk), where will we enjoy treats and cold, fresh water!

walking route

From the north: take I-75 south to I-375 south, exit Jefferson EAST (left turn) to Rivard St, turn right. Rivard is the first street past the church on the right/river side)

I am usually great at browsing the internet but I still haven't been able to find Sheree and Saba at www.tellusdetroit.com/index. Karen do you have a specific webpage within the website where you found it?

Hi all-- True to form, I-75 south-bound will be closed at I-94, and north-bound will be closed from I-375 to I-94. As an alternate route, take 75 south to 94 west, then move all the way to the left lane so you can get on to the south-bound Lodge (M-10). Take the Lodge (stay in the middle lane) all the way to the end. It'll run under Cobo and dump onto Jefferson. Keep on Jefferson east to Rivard. If you have any questions, shoot me an email. See you on Sunday! Joe

The walk was great... the dogs all knew that this was a good pack... The wind on the River made the hot day seem cool. We saw channel 4, Fox, and Channel 7 video crews... Dogs behaved and people enjoyed the walk... Thanks
    •  It was a beautiful day to be out on the Riverfront. Great suggestion!
    •  This was so AWESOME! Lots of smiling doggies, lots of friendly dog-parents. The Riverwalk is beautiful, dog-friendly (even tho we weren't 'supposed' to be in the carousel fountain, they waited 15 min to ask us nicely to get the hotdogs >snicker< out of the water.) Many thanks to member Liz Blondie/Canine to Five for inviting the group and taking care of logistics. Many thanks to the group members for wearing red, being visible (we hope you're watching for news coverage this evening) and smiling all morning. Congrats to the Riverfront Conservancy for a beautiful idea realized.

It was very hot but the dogs had a few places to take a detour in the shade and water was available in various different places.
    •  Abbey and I had a super time, and we met some nice people and dogs
    •  This was a great idea. It was my first time, as well as Copper's, to the River Walk. We both had a great time. We met a lot of friendly people and their dogs!!
    •  We had a great time at the Riverwalk yesterday. Although it was quite warm out, the breeze coming off the River kept us a comfortable temp. We made sure to bring plenty of water for our dogs and they did fine. We enjoyed the Riverwalk immensely and will be doing it again for sure since Canine to Five said there is one every Sunday. We hope to see some of you there in the future!
