PLEASE COME TO THIS MEETING AT CITY HALL (Council Chambers) at 7PM THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT for a rally to be put on the 2010 agenda. Sorry for the late notice but we've been waiting to see if we'd be included in the agenda and now need to insist that we get on the agenda.

WE should be able to have our say during the public comment so we should be done by 7:45.

YOUR PRESENCE AT THIS MEETING WILL MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.
We will need to keep showing up in numbers if we want to make an impression with the City and Park Board.

WE will have our sign with us and be outside meeting up - inside the lobby if it's too cold outside.

WE will be meeting to hear your suggestions to bring forward to the City. We have been awaiting the outcome of the elections tonight. We want to get some commitment from the city in 2010 towards restarting the off leash areas discussion.

What's going on elsewhere in the area with off leash parks? Here are some news from other locations.

Come meet other dog owners in Kirkland and support a good cause.
Rotary of Downtown Kirkland and Homeward Pet Adoption are sponsoring the 1st annual Paws for Polio Kirkland Dog Walk.[/b] The walk starts at Houghton and ends at Marina Park.
Checks or cash only.

With King County planning to close their animal shelter, now more than ever small non-profits like Homeward Pet could use your donation.

•Special doggie bandana and treats given to the first 50 registrants
•Given the nature of the event, bring along only dog-friendly dogs
•All dogs must be leashed, and naturally, a “stop & scoop” policy applies

KDOG will have a booth at the start line at Houghton Beach Park. We will be handing out our stickers and asking people to sign our petition.
We would love volunteers to help us at this event. Volunteers will get a free KDOG T-shirt. Please email me at djguth@yahoo.com

A great opportunity to show your support for an off leash area in Kirkland. We are on the schedule so the time is firm - 7:30 at the City Council Chambers - we will probably meet outside between 7 and 7:30 to gather and go in.

Congratulations! We were able to generate $3000 towards the City's Mutt Mitt program and we are going to present them with a lovely monster check for $3000.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make GO DOG GO! a great success. We have decided to do this again next year so you will hear some information on that in a while.

NOW OPEN IN KIRKLAND: Kirkland's first dog park FREEDOM PARK
That's still our goal and we will keep moving forward with this goal.
THe next meeting will be helping to organize GO DOG, GO
GO DOG, GO will help us to reach more people, educate dog owners, and show how dog-friendly Kirkland is.

1) If you are a business that would like to be a sponsor of a game or contest at GO DOG, GO, please attend or email me.

2) If you are an individual or a business that would like to sponsor a raffle basket, please attend or email me.

3) If you are a vendor or a concession (yes, there will be food, next year we'll go for the wine bar and beer garden), please attend or email me for the forms.

If you can think of local businesses that might be interested in supporting KDOG - even a restaurant with a "Buy one, get one" would be welcome, I have the forms and you can approach them or we can. Remember that dog owners are a great target demographic for many businesses and GO DOG, GO will be all about dog owners.

This will happen at the CITY COUNCIL MEETING March 3 Tuesday at 7:30 PM, City Council Chamber at City Hall, 123 5th Avenue. Please come to support KDOG.

WRITE IN YOUR SUPPORT: E-Mail: citycouncil@ci.kirkland.wa.us

Dear City Council Members:
I am a Kirkland resident and I am writing to you to let you know I support the creation of off leash areas for Kirkland. I am a member of KDOG (Kirkland Off Leash Dog Group -www.kdog.org), a citizens group which will provide oversight and financial, educational, volunteer support of off leash areas. I am a responsible dog owner and I would like the opportunity to exercise in the City Parks with my dog. Other cities are developing off leash areas and it's time for Kirkland to better serve it's dog owning residents. Thank you for your support of the creation of a working group to help develop off leash programs for Kirkland.

Want to join the Park Board - the Park Board is looking for volunteer members to serve a 4 year term. KDOG members are encouraged to apply - if Kirkland's parks are an interest of yours and you would like to help direct their future, please take a minute to apply:

FEBRUARY 4, Heritage Hall, 7PM Norkirk Residents = please attend the Norkirk Neighborhood Association Meeting discussion Part II of a dog park located at Crestwoods park. The NNA would like to have more input on the concept of a dog park in Crestwoods.

Are you a parent and support a dog park there?
Are you a business owner and support a dog park there?
Do you live next to Crestwoods and support a dog park there?

If you meet any of these criteria, we want YOU to speak up at the Park Meeting to highlight the way we represent Kirkland. Please email me directly and we can plan ahead.
